WELCOME TO MARRAUM

From the glimmer of an idea to the stroke of a pencil, the first turn of a door handle to the flickering of a smile across a face, at Marraum we bring more to your space – and take your story beyond its walls.

And we begin with you. Because at the heart of each architecture project – studio spaces, private loft conversions, commercial builds or building that dream home – are the people who use it.

They’re the yawns that stretch to eye-widening views in the morning. They’re the feet feeling cool concrete underfoot. They’re the eyes looking for inspiration at their desks. And the shoulders that hunker down in the evening. These are the people whose surroundings bring more to each and every experience.

With years of architecture and design experience in both Cornwall and further afield – paired with aesthetic drive, strong ethics and constant curiosity – we know how to make space work harder for you.So from beginning, middle and end – discover how you can bring your own story of space to life.

marraum-story

“The opportunity to nurture people’s connection to their environment and to one another is the thing that makes architecture so important for me. Every client and project is unique, each demanding a freshly considered approach to blend materiality with movement and emotion.

Growing up as the son of an architect, I’d always been surrounded by design and lived in spaces which were appreciably different to those experienced elsewhere.  It wasn’t until after pursuing studies in marine science that I came full-circle and, recognising the joy that architecture can introduce to people’s lives, started my journey to become an architect.

Geographically, I seem to have been gradually migrating further south-westward, having grown-up in Somerset, studied and worked in Devon and now moved our young family to live in south Cornwall.

The landscape and surroundings here suit my out of work lifestyle when I love to spend time outdoors, mostly on and around the water - surfing, paddle-boarding, sailing - and in the hills - mountain biking, cycling, hiking, camping.  Now with a young son, I’m looking forward to focusing on smaller adventures, closer to home and inspiring in him a love and fascination for the natural world.”
