Type: New build
Location: Mid Cornwall
Status: Planning approved
Our client, custodian of a Grade II listed building, approached us for help in converting a building at the end of its life, whilst ensuring the replacement dwelling blended seamlessly with the surrounding Cornish farm buildings and habitat.
As a listed building with a small land plot, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our brief faced a number of constraints. Design played a huge part in meeting these – leaning on the local vernacular, building materials and developing initial sketch ideas into a full proposal that was supported by 3D visualisations.
The Märraum team worked with the dwellings design to bring the outside in, creating a spacious design that reflected the landscape around – utilising the site's topography when considering placement with surrounding trees, natural features and local building context.
Our presentation to both the Parish council and neighbours incorporated powerful 3D video walkthroughs and immersive experiences – engaging with our audience and resulting in full support and approval.
The resulting design was an exciting property filled with potential and the Märraum team can’t wait to see the replacement dwelling completed.
